Saturday October 8th 2011 was the date of this 12th DFW Karate Championships. Dewey Sutton once again out did himself. With the help of his army of helpers and AOK officials he was able to pull off another exciting martial arts tournament. I have been attending this event for the last 5 years and this year seemed to be the best. He always takes care of his judges and officials even providing a separate room with food and snacks for all his helpers. Pat Burleson and other special dignitaries were there. Some of the best martial artist in the country were competing and watching the competition.

You’ve heard that martial arts can have many positive personal benefits. So you decided to give martial arts a try. You researched the local schools and found a school you feel is right for you. Setting a goal for yourself is the key to the doors of either success or failure in your karate career. I didn’t understand, or have the key to the door of success until the first goal I set was completed. I’ve been in the martial arts for 36 years, and intensely studying karate-do for 26 years. The below is written from the perspective of a martial artist, not a psychiatrist, nor sociologist.

Wayne Nguyen is one of the major players in Texas Sport Karate. He has evolved his entrepreneurial endeavors to become major components of several organizations. Wayne has gained years of experience producing karate tournaments and high end martial arts shows in the last two decades. The TKO organization has become one of the biggest Texas karate organizations. It is only eclipsed by the five decades old Texas AOK sport karate group. The Ocean Nationals is one of three tournaments produced by Wayne Nguyen every year. The Ocean Nationals is rated by the AOK and the TKO. It is a signature component to current Texas Sport Karate. This September 17th 2011 Ocean Nationals was once again held at the prestigious San Luis Convention Center.
